We couldn’t have asked for more exciting news for our first blog post. Hill Crest Bed & Breakfast has been chosen as one of the 2017 Top Ten Best Romantic Inns by iLoveInns.com. The knowledgeable staff of the premier directory of boutique inns and bed and breakfasts has published a top ten list for more than 20 years and we are honored that our charming and intimate turn-of-the-century Edwardian style historical mansion has been recognized as one of the best.
We are going into our third year of business and are very excited to have made our mark in Clifton Forge, Virginia. In a recent article in the Virginia Review, Teresa Hammond, Executive Director of the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, said, “the rooms are immaculate with exquisite fixtures and furnishings…their food is superb. We are very fortunate to have a premier B&B in our area.”
We hope that this honor brings even more lovebirds to Hill Crest. We pride ourselves on providing an elegant location for small elopements to extravagant weddings for up to 200 people. Innkeeper Martha is a chef who loves to share her creativity with food throughout the event, from the hors d’oeuvres to the all-important cake.
Our course we realize that people aren’t hosting a wedding every weekend and we adore being an inn that people think of for romantic getaways. We hope it has something to do with our three- to five-course silver service breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese, and evening turn-down service with a night cap and chocolate.
While food is one way to a person’s heart, it isn’t the only way. Our spa retreat bathrooms boast comfortable bathrobes and custom bath accessories because relaxation presents an opportunity for the heart to open. We also offer in-room massages for those that want the ultimate relaxation. Many couples then spend time taking a stroll through our terraced yard with gardens. We are flattered that all of these amenities add up to this notable recognition. Most importantly, we are excited for the service we can provide to our guests.
We feel a bit like we’ve won an Oscar and want to give a shout out to our fellow “nominees:”
- Ellwanger Estate, Rochester, New York
- 34 State “Historic Luxury Suites,” Skaneateles, New York
- Inn at Osprey Point, Rock Hall, Maryland
- Glen Gordon Manor, Huntly, Virginia
- Bloomsbury Inn, Camden, South Carolina
- Point Clear Cottages, Fairhope, Alabama
- Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast, Two Harbors, Minnesota
- Antlers on the Creek Bed & Breakfast, Durango, Colorado
- Briar Patch, Sedona, Arizona
We are in great company and plan to explore the amenities, packages, and services provided by all of the inns on the top ten list to discover new ways to treat our guests to romance. After all, Virginia is for lovers.
